Carolina Dog

Traveler

Traveler

Traveler was found as a stray with his mother when he was about 5 weeks old. They were both starving and close to freezing on the 5 degree morning that they were rescued. He is a shy fellow, but very loving and loyal when he makes a bond. Traveler is good with most dogs. His preferred placement is a calm, quiet environment with no children. He is on the small side of medium and is 6 years old.

Trina

Trina

This really loveable, dark ginger-colored dog was an early-morning dump-off at Annie's Orphans. At the time, she appeared to have just weaned a litter of pups. Trina is probably 2 years of age.  It is difficult to determine which breed Trina is mixed with, but she is a large girl. She is very friendly and is hoping to make a life-long buddy soon.

Doogan

Doogan

This is one dog who can win hearts with his searching eyes and inviting expression! Doogan is a broad-headed, short-haired mix who came from a local reservation. He loves to play with his toys and carries them around waiting for someone to join in the game. He is approx. 45 lbs and 6 years old. Doogan has some facial scars from a rough past, but wants to put it all behind and start anew! He is very athletic and attentive to direction. He loves other dogs too! We believe he will make a loving and loyal addition to your family! He has a strong preference for women.

Andy

Andy

Andy is another of our fabulous Carolina Dogs for adoption! He is cute, with his huge ears and his lighter-colored mask! Andy came to us from an out-of-state shelter via foster-care. He is a bit shy, around 2 years old, and is possibly house-trained, although he is kenneled at present, so we don't know for sure. Contact us about this special boy!

Roo

Roo

This lady is exceedingly loving and happy-go-lucky!  She came to us from a high-kill, out-of-state shelter and is happy to have the opportunity to play with all her new doggy friends here at the shelter.  She's even more excited about the possibility of finding an always-companion that she can go home with!  Roo is about 1 year old. She is "cow-hocked" in the back legs, which limits her in no other way than that she will not be an intensive hiking or running companion.  However, there is a possibility that this conformation might increase the odds of Roo developing arthritis after she's older.  Roo is currently in training as a potential therapy dog, and she is showing LOTS of promisel!

Swayze

Swayze

Swayze is so good-natured here at the shelter, LOVES playing with kids and is fun to watch as he entertains himself with his jolly ball and tries to get the attention of visitors with his squeaky toys. He's also good with other dogs.  However, he was adopted out recently and what we found is that Swayze bonds with core people quickly and completely (His adoptive family LOVED him), but he became protective of his people and their space and developed a suspicious and guarding nature where strangers are concerned.  He would only be a candidate for adoption to the right person: Someone who is very dog-savvy and would offer consistent and appropriate training and guidance around Swayze's guarding behaviors.  The ideal setting would be a low-bustle, predictable living situation, with few comings and goings of non-core people.  Swayze is around 4 years old.

Juniper

Juniper

Pretty, little Juniper is a Carolina Dog who was snatched up from a high-kill, out-of-state shelter just prior to her termination-date.  She is sweet, but a bit timid, due to experiences from her largely unknown past.  She appears to be about 1 year of age, so good care and positive experiences are expected to provide a quick remedy to her shyness.  She would do best in a quiet, adult-oriented home.

Annabella

Annabella

Annabella is a precious girl, who is high, (did I say extremely?) high-energy. She came to us from a Denver shelter via foster care. Annabella is 3 years old and will need some good direction and a dedicated "job." She loves people and is so happy to share affection, inviting you over with a coquettish tilt of her head!  Annabella has the largest, unbelievably-expressive eyes. One look at them and you might find yourself with a new, life-long friend! Why not test out this theory?!

Ariel

Ariel

Sweet little Ariel was sent our way, a very pregnant girl whose time was up for finding a home at another shelter. She was picked up running loose and was, unfortunately, impregnated during her first heat cycle. She had her "one-time" healthy litter of seven shortly after arriving and performed her role as a mother extremely well, especially considering that, at the time, she was still under a year old herself. She is a very people-focused lady, good with dogs, very attentive, affectionate and eager to learn. Ariel's ideal home will include another medium-energy canine friend and a family that will provide moderate activity, since an early-life injury to one of her feet causes some slight compromise. This 2 year old is ready to start a new life of her own -- filled with comforts, ample vittles and LOTS of affection!

Sammy

Sammy

Sammy is a 5 year old, very shy, one-person dog. She would be excellent for a single-person household. She requires a lot of exercise and must have a fenced yard accessible from the door of her new home. She tends to be dominant with other dogs, but can get along with them. Sammy came to our shelter from a rescue in Dulce.
