Adopt a senior - Swayze

Adopt a senior - Swayze
Swayze has a "complex personality" -- He gets very attached to "his" people, LOVES playing with kids and is fun to watch as he entertains himself with his jolly ball and tries to get the attention of visitors with his squeaky toys. He's also good with other dogs. Meanwhile, when bonded with core people, he can become protective of his family and their space and can act suspicious and guarded where strangers are concerned. He would only be a candidate for adoption to the right person: someone who is very dog-savvy and would offer consistent and appropriate training and guidance around Swayze's guarding behaviors. The ideal setting would be a low-bustle, predictable living situation, with few comings and goings of non-core people. Swayze is around 10 years old and has Pemphigus Erythematosus.

Courtesy Posting - Bailey

Courtesy Posting - Bailey
As a courtesy posting, Bailey is not on-site at Annie's Orphans and is represented as described: Owners adopted Bailey from a shelter about 2 years ago. She had been there for about 6-8 months before adoption and is believed to be about 5.5 years old now. She is a lab mix. She is full of energy and awesome to take on runs/bike rides! Bailey absolutely loves the family's other dog, but can be aggressive towards other, unfamiliar dogs. She is the type of dog who would be great on a big farm, so she could run all day! She is also very loving and enjoys cuddling up on the couch with you. It was stated that, prior to rescue, she had likely spent most of her early life tied up to a tree. She is GREAT with people, including small kids. She is a good dog in the car on road-trips, sleeps in the bedroom at night, and will definitely make herself at home on your couch. Bailey does not chew on things or destroy shoes- for all you ladies out there. We think she may have developed a sort of separation anxiety, so it would be best if you could take her to work each day, take her on walks more frequently to burn a little energy, or were at home more often during the day to be with her. She definitely has her quirks, but is a very sweet dog! We are looking to re-home her to an individual or family who is able to spend more time with her in general. Bailey is crate-trained and fully house-trained. Contact 205-410-4880 with questions or to meet Bailey .

Sonny

Sonny
Sonny is a Feist, transferred from Tijuana. He came off the streets, but has been fostered; so, he is probably house-trained. This kid is just an, overall, good fellow: friendly/good-natured, good with children and with other dogs. He will be ready to go after we complete a heart-worm test and veterinary "once-over."

Pearl - 2

Pearl - 2
Pearl has returned to our shelter, due to unexpected household issues -- no fault of her own. Pearl was very bonded and is feeling insecure right now, but she is a sweet dog with people, submissive with other (same-size) dogs, and good with kids. Pearl is not considered good with small dogs or cats. She was well socialized and will benefit greatly from placement soon, as kennel life is not ideal for her. This girl is 1 and 1/2 yrs old.

Adopt a Senior - Carmen

Adopt a Senior - Carmen
Carmen has been receiving increased training, and this focus - along with extra exercise and socialization - has helped her with her extreme shyness. She has experience living in a household, and the ideal placement for her will be with a single, quiet individual. She was probably house-trained, but will need a tune-up in that area after placement. She will require lots of patience and love, as well as continued effort toward training and socialization. Carmen is 9 years old.

Wolfie

Wolfie
Wolfie was born at Annie's Orphans, to a pregnant mother who was accepted from an out-of-state shelter prior to being euthanized. He was adopted out as a baby and was returned within the first year of his life for pack aggression toward another household pet. Additionally, Wolfie develops a strong bond with a person and has shown protective/guarding behaviors when other people approach the primary individual. Adoption is a possibility to only the right individual who has knowledge of the breed and of handling challenging behaviors in dogs. The necessary living arrangement would include a quiet setting with a solo person. Wolfie is 7 years old.

Cody & Sierra

Cody & Sierra
Cody and Sierra are two adult dogs who have a special bond with each other -- We would love to see them continue their long-term connection by going to the same home! Cody is a male Border Collie mix, beautiful and smart; Sierra is a female Chow mix, unique and soulful. Both are altered and up-to-date on vaccinations. These two are very good with people and other dogs.

Li'l Bit

Li'l Bit
This very sweet and lovable little fellow is being reluctantly re-homed -- not due to any issues specific to him. He is house-trained, leash-trained, up-to-date with all vaccinations (although a 3-year rabies booster will be required soon). He is around a year old and has lots of life and happiness to share!

Adopt A Senior - Sammy

Adopt A Senior - Sammy
Sammy is now 10 years old and is a good, but very shy, one-person dog. She would be excellent for a single-person household. A patient individual with a lot of doggy-know-how would be the ideal match. Sammy needs a secure, fenced yard. She tends to be dominant with other dogs, but can get along with them. Sammy came to our shelter from a rescue in Dulce.

Courtesy Posting - Aspen

Courtesy Posting - Aspen
Aspen is a courtesy posting and, as such, is not on-site and is represented as described to us. Please contact the number at the end of the bio for more info: Aspen, a female Siberian Husky, is approximately 10 years old. She was a rescue from Las Cruces, NM, and has been in Albuquerque with the same family for 9 years. As her current family has had some children, it's become apparent that Aspen is not good around toddlers and will snap at and act aggressively if her tail is touched. Aspen is a high energy dog that loves to go on walks. She would do best in an active family, as an only dog in a household with no small children. Aspen needs a fenced yard and walks on leash.
