Kiara

Kiara

Kiki (her nickname) is affectionate, loves lap-time and knows how to wave and smile on command! Thanks to a kind sponsor, Kiara had a complete dental, and she has lost some weight since the time of this picture. Although she was reported to have had mini-seizures in the past, ZERO have been observed in the months since her surrender to us. Kiara is 12 years old, house-trained and eager to find her new home!

Information provided to Annie's Orphans about Inky:  "Hello, my name is Inky.  I'm a 7 year old poodle who is looking for a loving home. I am jet black with a white goatee!  I spent the first 6 years of my life with a lady who had 5 other dogs, so I get along well with other small dogs. My lady died, and I was rescued by another lady who has a cat. While the cat doesn't like me very much, I get along with him very well. My present lady has to move into assisted living and can't take me with her. I grieved for 6 months when I lost my first owner. I don't know how long I'll react to losing my second owner. I was born to LOVE. I am sweet and very affectionate. I am trained to use puppy pads, and with my first owner, I used the doggie door, to go outside. I love to go for rides in the car, and am very well behaved. I am a one person dog and am very shy around strangers. I bark at people when they come to the door, but I stop when my owner says "Inky, no bark!".  I will bring much joy and happiness to you if you will give me a good home and lots of love. Please come meet me and you will see what a loving dog I am. I am also super smart, and easy to train."  AO has been advised that Inky is under 15 lbs, vaccinations will be made current, and she is spayed.

Ariel

Ariel

Sweet little Ariel was sent our way, a very pregnant girl whose time was up for finding a home at another shelter. She was picked up running loose and was, unfortunately, impregnated during her first heat cycle. She had her "one-time" healthy litter of seven shortly after arriving and performed her role as a mother extremely well, especially considering that, at the time, she was still under a year old herself. She is a very people-focused lady, good with dogs, very attentive, affectionate and eager to learn. Ariel's ideal home will include another medium-energy canine friend and a family that will provide moderate activity, since an early-life injury to one of her feet causes some slight compromise. This 2 year old is ready to start a new life of her own -- filled with comforts, ample vittles and LOTS of affection!

Sammy

Sammy

Sammy is a 5 year old, very shy, one-person dog. She would be excellent for a single-person household. She requires a lot of exercise and must have a fenced yard accessible from the door of her new home. She tends to be dominant with other dogs, but can get along with them. Sammy came to our shelter from a rescue in Dulce.

Doogan

Doogan

This is one dog who can win hearts with his searching eyes and inviting expression! Doogan is an adult, male, short-haired mix who came from a local reservation. He loves to play with his toys and carries them around waiting for someone to join in the game. He is approx. 45 lbs. He does have some facial scars from a rough past, but wants to put it all behind and start anew! He is very athletic and attentive to direction. He loves other dogs too! We believe he will make a loving and loyal addition to your family! He has a preference for women.

Roo

Roo

This lady is exceedingly loving and happy-go-lucky!  She came to us from a high-kill, out-of-state shelter and is happy to have the opportunity to play with all her new doggy friends here at the shelter.  She's even more excited about the possibility of finding an always-companion that she can go home with!  Roo is about 1 year old. She is "cow-hocked" in the back legs, which limits her in no other way than that she will not be an intensive hiking or running companion.  It's a possibility that this conformation also would predispose Roo to arthritis after she's older.

Sol - ADOPTION PENDING!

Sol - ADOPTION PENDING!

Sol is yet another sweet soul looking for a better life.  He was left by his owner and is beginning his search for a secure and loving home.  He is reported to be great with children and with other dogs.  He is a beauty who loves to greet people with a shake. Expert opinion is that Sol is about 1 year of age.  He is currently being fostered and is described by his foster mom as " the most fabulous dog -- sweet, loving and friendly." Sol has been house-trained by his foster-mother.

Rowdy

Rowdy

Rowdy is a 5 year old owner-surrender who had some initial difficulties transitioning to a return to kennel-life.  He has, under our care, made remarkable shifts and is now walking on leash,  is not nearly as shy and is, in general, a more confident and engaging guy. He will require a large yard and continued gentle approaches to training.

Shorty Pants

Shorty Pants

Shorty is a 13 year old who just recently lost his owner.  He was transferred from an in-state shelter and is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations and microchipped.  Thanks to a kind sponsor, Shorty has just received comprehensive dental care.  Since he arrived here, his personality has undergone a radical, welcomed change.  He is, now, a very active senior with lots of cute spunk and a few opinions that he will give voice to if you didn't hear him the first time!

Sam

Sam

Sam is a large, ginger-colored, 9 year old, Chihuahua boy. He and his friend, Pam, needed placement when their aging companions moved into assisted living, and Annie's was called since the family hoped to avoid any risk that the beloved pets might be euthanized. While a tad stand-offish initially, Sam is very friendly/sweet and listens well. He has slimmed down since his arrival here and weighs in at 16 lbs now (Yes, BIG for a Chihuahua).  While he lived for years as a housetrained pet, Sam will need someone with time and patience to give him a "refresher course" on the subject, since he has been kenneled at Annie's Orphans for some time now.  He will be happiest placed in a home with a gentle, small, female dog. He loves playing the role of "big brother." Sam is already microchipped.
