Abigail/Abby

Abigail/Abby
Once she gets to know you, Abigail is a very friendly, 3 year old Doxie. She is good with cats and fine with dogs, although she is more dominant in approach to the latter. She enjoys car-rides and is crate trained/house-trained, as well. She has no known health issues, other than carrying a bit too much weight. She is a food-monger and will "climb" in order to get out-of-reach food, so she will do best with someone whose work/life is centered from home.

Blacky

Blacky
Blacky is a recent arrival who came to us from an out-of-town shelter after his owner had to go into a nursing home. He is a 12 year old, mini-dachshund, weighing in at about 10 lbs. Of course, with the loss of his companion, Blacky's life took a sudden turn; then, more difficulties followed: Blacky was over-anesthetized while being neutered, and his little life was a bit iffy for a while. After stabilizing, an oral infection required attention, and he received much needed dentistry (thanks to the Eagle Animal Protection League!). But, Blacky has come through all of this like the trooper that he is!! He does not seem to experience any ongoing physical complications from these difficulties, other than the fact that he has few remaining teeth and requires a soft or soaked diet. Blacky is good with other dogs and appears to be okay with cats, although he enjoys barking at them. He would be a very good match for a less active individual or a channel-surfer who enjoys good company.

Sammy2

Sammy2
Sammy is a Mountain Feist, a hunting breed, who came to us as an owner-surrender. He is 1 year old, approximately 20 lbs and is a bundle of good-natured energy. Sammy is crate-trained and walks very well on leash. (Fence and leash are requirements.) Upon his arrival here, we tested Sammy for heart-worm and, sadly, he tested positive. The good news is that his treatment went very well and is now complete. So, Sammy is back in swing and is ready to tackle the world again with his happy, healthy, full-of-life attitude!

Pam

Pam
Pam is a 4 year old, pure-bred Boston Terrier, quite a bit larger than most. She and her friend, Sam, needed placement when their aging companions moved into assisted living, and Annie's was called since the family hoped to avoid any risk that the beloved pets might be euthanized. Pam is friendly, sweet and playful. She is a trimmer, more fit dog than when she first came to us, but she does have a tendency to gain weight; therefore, free-feeding would not work for her. Pam is microchipped.

Polly

Polly
This girl is SOOO cute! Polly was found as a stray, living with her sister and another small dog under a dumpster and managing to subsist on scraps from a nearby restaurant. She is crate-trained, and her sister proved to be house-trained upon placement, so there's that possibility for Polly as well; however, since we've never put that to the test, it is not a certainty. She is 2 years old or under and weighs 10 lbs. Because of her life experiences, she came to us very shy, but is getting more comfortable daily. While she warms up sweetly in someone's arms, she is still difficult to catch and is not yet at ease on leash. She is a healthy-looking weight, fully vaccinated and spayed and is patiently waiting for her new life-companion to visit!

Davey

Davey
Sporting an extremely nice temperament, Davey is great with people, including children, and good with other dogs. He is an active, playful boy and enjoys a good game of fetch; however, he equally enjoys cuddle-time on the couch. Davey is around a year old and is scheduled to be neutered soon. Although we haven't tested it, he would probably be okay with cats. While further obedience training is needed, he listens well. Davey is mostly house-broken, but will require continued supervision and instruction.

Pooch

Pooch
Pooch was owner-surrendered, due to life circumstances. She is simply beautiful and is really good with people and other dogs. Like other Shelties, she is a vocal girl. Upon meeting, she is a tiny bit shy at first, but within minutes is ready to play and cuddle. She won't last long here, so if interested, drop an email to us right away!

Murphy

Murphy
This little man's innocent, "who me" expression will bring a smile to your face! He is a high-energy, "Dennis-the-Menace" delight, but his happy face doesn't reflect his near-miss from an unhappy ending in a high-kill shelter in Missouri. Murphy is around 1 year old, good with dogs and older kids. He's about 25 lbs. He is puppy-style unruly and will require lots of training and patience, but he's worth it!

Tootsie

Tootsie
Eagerly awaiting her new family, Tootsie has gone through a transformation! With the help of a good foster home, she has left her formerly shy, uncertain self behind and is now showing up with confidence, energy and playfulness! She LOVES water-play and is good with other dogs and cats. Understandably, due to her size, she is not comfortable with small children, so a home with young kids would not be a good match. Tootsie is around 8 years old, which for a Chihuahua, is considered only early middle-age. She's patiently anticipating a call or email from "her person."

Ammo

Ammo
Ammo, Male, Jack Russell Terrier, 3 1/2 years old (birthday July 10, 2006), ~24 pounds. He needs to go to a home without small children (kiddos 3-4 and under), he would love a large backyard to run, and preferably no other dogs except his brother Satchel (or cats) (although not necessary if unavoidable; it would just be easier on them). They have had some puppy training classes (from PetSmart) to sit and stay but aren't very good with stay command as we haven't made the time to really work with them. They are current on shots. They are also microchipped! When we took these surrender dogs in, we could see they were good and very trainable. They learn quickly and will make wonderful companions.
