Courtesy Posting - Rodeo

This dog is not housed at Annie's Orphans.  Following is information as represented to us.  Persons requesting a courtesy posting are advised that their pets must be spayed or neutered:

Rodeo is an athletic, 3 year old Rhodesian Ridgeback mix (ridgeless).  He is 50lb. and inherited the Rhodesian appearance and temperament including intelligence, gentleness, and strong sight and scent abilities.   He has been our family pet for over a year, coming to us from a shelter.  Due to our severe allergies, our Dr. recommends that we place him in a new home.  He broke his back leg before we met and it healed on its own, now he walks with a limp.  It causes him no discomfort and he still loves to run (very fast) and swim.  He has not played with other dogs for over a year and will need help overcoming his dog aggression.  His former shelter said he was not dog aggressive when we adopted him and he loves to learn new skills.  He loves our cat and has done well with other people's children. Housebroken and crate trained, walks on a leash and knows basic commands like sit and stay and knows a few tricks like fetch.  Has shots and is microchipped.  Medium sized.  Contact Rachel at 970-903-2789 or rachel.shockley@zoho.com

Jack

Jack

Jack is 10 years old, house-trained and a well-behaved, nondestructive guy. He is good with other large dogs and kids, but not with small dogs or cats. Jack weighs around 65 lbs. He is an owner-surrender, due to relocation. Jack has episodes of spot-hair-loss and itching related to a zinc-deficiency, which is well managed through supplementation. He is a noble, gentle, quiet fellow who wants to live out the rest of his days in a comfortable home with someone he loves!

Kiara

Kiara

Kiki (her nickname) is affectionate, loves lap-time and knows how to wave and smile on command! Thanks to a kind sponsor, Kiara had a complete dental, and she has lost some weight since the time of this picture. Although she was reported to have had mini-seizures in the past, ZERO have been observed in the (inexplicably) long period of time since her surrender to us. Kiara is 12 years old, house-trained and eager to find her new home!

Tom

Tom

Lacey

Lacey

Lacey is a strikingly attractive and muscular girl. She is an owner-surrender, coming from the home of an older woman who couldn't care for her. She is obedient, housetrained and up to date on shots. She walks well on leash and is very affectionate with people. Lacey is between 6 and 7 years old. She will do well with an athletic individual who is also dog-savvy and will respect the fact that she doesn't respond well to other dogs.

Peanut

Peanut

WHERE IS PEANUT'S TRUE COMPANION?? ~ It will be hard to find a more beautiful, muscularly-built dog! With Colorado's fitness-focus, it's unbelievable that Peanut has not found her permanent home yet, but experience has made it clear that she wants ALL the love there is to offer and prefers no other dogs in the household to share that with. Outside of wanting to be the only pet on the home-front, Peanut seems fine with most other dogs she might encounter. She is an awesome girl, who is about 6 years old, athletic and very friendly to everyone. She just loves people and wants to be with them. She will probably do well with older kids. (Because of her energy level and size, she's likely not a match for young children.) She weighs about 65 lbs and has that "Cleopatra-look" with her beautifully-lined eyes. She has enough energy to be a wonderful adventure companion. Peanut was found seeking out her own adventure as a stray at Lemon Dam. If you're dog-savvy and outdoors-minded, schedule a visit with her and fall in love with our incredibly special girl!

Swayze

Swayze

Swayze is so good-natured here at the shelter, LOVES playing with kids and is fun to watch as he entertains himself with his jolly ball and tries to get the attention of visitors with his squeaky toys. He's also good with other dogs.  However, he was adopted out recently and what we found is that Swayze bonds with core people quickly and completely (His adoptive family LOVED him), but he became protective of his people and their space and developed a suspicious and guarding nature where strangers are concerned.  He would only be a candidate for adoption to the right person: Someone who is very dog-savvy and would offer consistent and appropriate training and guidance around Swayze's guarding behaviors.  The ideal setting would be a low-bustle, predictable living situation, with few comings and goings of non-core people.  Swayze is around 4 years old.

Andy

Andy

Andy is another of our fabulous Carolina Dogs for adoption! He is cute, with his huge ears and his lighter-colored mask! Andy came to us from an out-of-state shelter via foster-care. He is a bit shy, around 2 years old, and is possibly house-trained, although he is kenneled at present, so we don't know for sure. Contact us about this special boy!

Sammy

Sammy

Sammy is a 5 year old, very shy, one-person dog. She would be excellent for a single-person household. She requires a lot of exercise and must have a fenced yard accessible from the door of her new home. She tends to be dominant with other dogs, but can get along with them. Sammy came to our shelter from a rescue in Dulce.

Rowdy

Rowdy

Rowdy is a 5 year old owner-surrender who had some initial difficulties transitioning to a return to kennel-life.  He has, under our care, made remarkable shifts and is now walking on leash,  is not nearly as shy and is, in general, a more confident and engaging guy. He will require a large yard and continued gentle approaches to training.
