Long John

Long John
Long John came in with 2 other brothers. They were all locked into a small yard and abandoned when the previous owners moved. A good soul intervened, bringing them to Annie's and, while they came in a bit underweight, they were in general good health. Long John is fairly laid-back for a pup, but he seems more dominant than his siblings. He is approximately 3 months old.

Luke

Luke
Luke is 1 year old and is receiving socialization and training. He is dog-friendly, and applied behavioral training and gentle handling have helped him diminish his wariness of men. While a bit on the submissive side, this, too, is responding well to training. Luke has a hip-socket issue, and assessment of his x-rays concluded that surgery is not necessary right now and likely will not be for years, but as he advances in age, intervention may be necessary. Interested parties should know that Luke is not the choice for a running partner or super-athlete.

Magic - Adoption Pending

Magic - Adoption Pending
Don't we all want a little Magic in our lives? This sweetheart is the smallest of the litter and has beautiful coloration (perhaps a little Rat Terrier in the mix?). Her personality is, seemingly, more quiet and person-centered, and she loves being around her primary human-caregiver out here! Magic will only be adopted out locally.

Merlin

Merlin
This boy is 3 months old and has "something magical" in his character. He is best described as smokey-merle in color. Merlin came in with 2 other brothers. They were all locked into a dirty, small yard and abandoned when the previous owners moved. A good soul intervened, bringing them to Annie's and, while they came in a bit underweight, they were in general good health. Merlin has a soft, attentive personality and will make a wonderful pet.

Micah

Micah
This little girl is a 4 year old Italian Greyhound/Chihuahua mix. Her breed blend equates to a nice combination of qualities, and she is an attractive little dog. Micah enjoys playtime with people, but also loves cuddling and affection. She is blond with white markings and weighs around 10 to 12 pounds. Her body is built like an Italian Greyhound, so Micah is leggy and slender. She is crate-trained and has been using pee-pads, but will need focus on house-training. Micah is nervous around kids, so she will be adopted out to a household without small children. She is great with other dogs, particularly within her size-range.

Moses - Adoption Pending

Moses - Adoption Pending
Moses is a precious little thing...reflective and watchful, he's a gentle, more laid-back boy. Tan with light markings and a "halo" of white on his head, Moses is a little angel. He will be looking for a local adoption.

Murdock

Murdock
Murdock is such a happy boy -- which says much about him, for his life has not been an easy one. He and his brother were picked up as stray puppies, both having experienced physical trauma, deduced to have come from abuse. The outcome of that, for Murdock, is what appears to be trauma-related brain-damage, with resulting developmental delays and visual "miswiring." Murdock is now one year old and, as the months pass, he is showing clear signs of improvement; but he has special needs and will require a home that can both accommodate his differences and support his potential. In return, this fellow will delight you daily with his unwavering optimism, innocence and absolute lovability. (See more about Murdock on Annie's Orphans home-page.)

Seager

Seager
Seager came to us as a stray from Towaoc. He has been a part of our sanctuary and is, now, considered adoptable. He is, however, a shy guy and panics easily, leading him to be a flight-risk in certain circumstances; therefore, he will need handling in keeping with that -- meaning, a secure yard and excursions only on harness/leash. Seager is around 7 years old.

Tango

Tango
You won't find this type of girl anywhere in the Southwest.....or so we thought before she was brought in by someone who found her, pregnant and lost, in north-central New Mexico! She looks to be pure Portuguese Podengo Pequeno (Wire coated), an ancient sight/scent hound originating in (where else but) Portugal. While no testing of this breed-speculation has occurred, we have expert consensus based on appearance alone. This delightful young girl came to our shelter with five small, mixed breed babies in tow. Now that the babies have been weaned for some time, Tango is scheduled for spaying and will be available after healing. She is probably between 1 and 2 years old and is great with children. While playful and engaging with other dogs, she can be a bit pushy with large dogs, so this combination is not preferred. We're guessing she is around 13 lbs. Tango is smart, loving, watchful/observant and will be a wonderful, lifetime companion for the right household!

Tatum

Tatum
Tatum is still looking for her life-time person. She is a "tom-boy," not into holding and petting, but a good watch-dog and a fun-loving companion. Tatum is a little ginger-colored girl, who was picked up as a stray, scared and alone. She is at a stable weight and in good form, after her time of having to scrounge for food and hide from dangers. Due to unknown experiences, she came into our shelter skittish/nervous and has made some headway in that area. Still, she will need a patient and loving handler -- someone with whom she can develop trust, who can accept her for her good qualities and not require a lap-dog. She is best suited for a quiet living situation, a household with no children. "Tater" is a part of a "pack" of small dogs out here, loves her pals and playtime and would most likely do quite well with another small household dog. She is probably 6 years old, around 5 to 6 pounds and infinitely cute!!
